What happens next

First, we read your request. Second, we reply, sometimes with a question or a request for a photo. Third, we connect you with an independent local plumber who can quote the job, either from your description or after looking at it in person. Nothing is decided until you agree to it with the plumber, and if you choose to wait or get another opinion, that is up to you.

What affects the price

A few things move the number more than anything else. Access matters: a supply line in an open crawlspace is a different job from one behind tile or under a slab. Age matters too, since a fitting on 1940s galvanized pipe often means replacing a section rather than patching it. The material of a sewer lateral, the size and fuel type of a water heater, and whether a permit and inspection are required all play in. Before you say yes to anyone, one habit is worth keeping. Ask for the price in writing, based on the actual repair from a single fixture to a full line replacement, before any work starts. Ask, too, how anything new found once the work is open will be priced.
